PHE Ink Celebrates Its 1st Birthday During Small Press Month
Houston, TX – March 4, 2010. Since its March 2008 inception, PHE Ink Writing Solutions Firm has started to set a new standard as being Houston’s premier independent publishing house. Trinia James, President of PHE Ink, created the company to offer authors some advantages similar to traditional publishing houses and to be a segue between large publishing firms and print on demand companies. Within the company’s first year, PHE Ink has published and placed over nine titles on retailers’ shelves ranging from murder mysteries and urban romance to speculative fiction and non-fiction books.
“I knew I was creating a diamond in the rough when other authors and peers in the industry waited patiently for me to embark of this endeavor,” James recalled. PHE Ink’s original purpose was to be a vehicle to launch James’ own writing career. However, the first novel PHE Ink produced was not her own, but for author Jean Holloway, African American Literary Award Show nominee for Ace of Hearts and Black Jack. From there, James drew from her business savvy in the oil and gas field and combined it with her self-marketing and publishing experience to craft a full service boutique firm that cultivates writers and their ideas for a storyline to marketing and promoting a printed book.
PHE Ink’s innovative branding has opened unique outlets to be creative with their grass root marketing campaigns. By participating in signature events like Book, Beauty, & Banter, Wine & Chocolate Chats, and the upcoming “Get Lit” White Party; PHE Ink continues the company’s mission of ‘Getting Books into Readers’ Hands’. “This year, I am committed to getting the authors on our roster published and in the buying market whether it’s hardback, trade paperback, and/or e-book. In 2011, I am looking forward to our inventory being available in audio and Braille,” James stated. “After all, I did assist with translating Top 10 Things to Consider by PHE Ink’s author Phyllis Wilson from English to Spanish.”
