There are claims floating around in the popular culture that vision boards possess some kind of magical power. You paste some pictures onto a poster and--voila--you begin attracting to you everything that you truly want. And if you are privileged enough to learn the "right" way to create a vision board and retrain your brain ("activate the power of your subconscious brain"), then the universe is supposed to work its magic even better.
My understanding is that the process actually works in this way: If you connect to your nuclear core (which is your connection to the universe) and follow through on your inner guidance, your inspirations and your insights, then you are tapping into the magic. And then you don't actually have to "retrain your brain" because your insights and inspirations will automatically, naturally and gently "retrain" your brain. And then, rather than commanding the universe to work its magic for you because you performed some supposedly magical ritual (your vision board and your brain retrain), you tap into the magic of the universe that's already occurring, but you might not as yet see with your eyes.
Tell me please, which of the following two scenarios do you think is more likely to be true?
A. By the power of your magical rituals you will bend the universe to your will
B. You can learn to tap into the natural flow, the design, and the magic of the universe (the magic occurring in the form of synchronicities, new insights, the amazing experience of flow, favorable serendipities, and universal cooperation)
Pasting together a collage is a pleasant and creative way to spend some of your time and it does help you clarify your heart's desires. However, doing this will not "align your desires with the universe." (Which is what some teachers claim will happen.)
And neither can you retrain your subconscious. Your subconscious, your higher consciousness is way more powerful than you can know and it will not be fooled by your limited human awareness. In fact, it has you already fooled without you even knowing it, but that's another story...
What will align you with the universe is to reconnect to and build a relationship with your inner core, your nuclear core--which is your connection to the larger universe. Build a relationship with your inner core and learn to distinguish your inner core's guidance from mental conditionings. Then build that relationship enough to follow through on your guidance promptly and consistently;
