The Pain Lab is a series of workshops that present pain not as a problem of structure, function, flexibility or strength, but as a problem of intensity and volume. Let the Pain Lab present you with the tools to enable you to live pain free.
Join Michael Gilbert on Fridays from 8:00pm-10:00pm:
Topics include:
•Don’t Get Stuck — March 19, 2010
What does it mean to “feel stuck”? Is there a difference between feeling stuck and being in pain? Recognizing and understanding the feeling of “being stuck” is the most important first step on the road to being pain free. This workshop will explore the difference between fact and feeling, as well as the distinction between being “broken” versus being “out of tune”.
•Turning Down the Volume — April 16, 2010
This second workshop focuses on tools and skills, poses and breathing exercises, which are vital components in the successful management of physiological intensity. Turning the volume up or down in any system, including your body regulates the feeling of intensity. This is what we refer to as tuning your body.
•Creating Space — May 7, 2010
Through a concept we call “Creating Space” you will learn how to get effort out. This workshop provides you with a practical, manageable and customized yoga practice that would start you on living with a pain-free and versatile body. This is what we refer to teaching your body to smile.
•The Power of Effort Out – May 21, 2010
In the final workshop students will review what they learned as they develop a customized pain management plan with their peers and Michael R. Gilbert. Upon completion you feel empowered to take control of your physical pain through innovative coping methods.
