Stephen Thomas works with children with additional education needs and uses Texthelp’s award-winning literacy support software in his work and home life.
Stephen discovered Read&Write GOLD when he undertook an Open University course for work. The course required him to complete a disability assessment where he was recommended Read&Write GOLD because he is hard of hearing.
Stephen’s hearing impairment has caused him trouble in some areas of work and so he has recently started using Read&Write software to deal with this. Stephen comments “I think the software is fantastic and as my job is teaching children who have additional educational needs, I can see that I will be pressing the school to look at purchasing Read&Write”.
Read&Write GOLD is Texthelp’s award-winning literacy support software designed to assist people with literacy difficulties. The software works discreetly with all mainstream Windows applications allowing users the opportunity to work in an inclusive manner. The software particularly benefits those with learning difficulties, dyslexia and where English is a second language.
Read&Write GOLD is easy to use and features include: Screen Masking (to tint or mask sections of the window), Texthelp Voices (new text-to-speech voices), a Translator which translates selected words into French, Spanish, German or Italian, enhanced Spelling, Dictionary & Homophone support, and the software echoes back Dragon text.
Stephen continues “I use Read&Write for essay writing, lesson planning and short story writing. I have found that I use the software in other areas and have discovered that many of the extra features are also very useful.
The spell checker with contextual examples is a great help. The predictive text feature helps with my poor spelling, as due to my hearing impairment I struggle to hear new words and therefore find spelling them difficult”.
