UMSL Helps Children Learn the Importance of Saving

Teach Children to Save Day is Still Accepting Bank Volunteers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar 04, 2010 -
St. Louis, MO – The University of Missouri–St. Louis Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Education is pleased to offer Teach Children to Save Day, a national event developed by the American Bankers Association. April 26–30 volunteer bankers will go to local 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms to share lessons about saving.

Although the deadline to register classrooms is already past, volunteer bankers from local participating banks still have the ability to sign up to participate. Volunteers may choose the classroom(s) they would like to visit. With the help of these volunteers, children will learn to identify goals and how to save to reach these goals.

A survey of teachers who previously participated in the program confirmed their appreciation and enjoyment of Teach Children to Save Day. Results showed that 93 percent of teachers agreed that the presentation was valuable to their students, the banker was well prepared, the topic matched their curriculum standards, and they would recommend the program to their colleagues.
