Spangler Candy Brings Home Two Gold DLG Awards

Spangler Candy Company’s Orange Sherbet and Cola Natural 1oz. candy canes were both presented with the Gold DLG Award for Taste, Appearance and Quality. The candy canes are sold to Original Candy Company based in the United Kingdom. Their distributor, Christian Schmid, owner of Der Gummibärchenladen (The Gummibear Store), sells the canes in Southern Germany to independent retailers as well as department stores.

The DLG (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft – German Agricultural Society) is a private, international test food center in Frankfurt. Founded 151 years ago, it is one of the oldest institutions in Germany for testing food quality. The DLG leads quality assessment in Europe and is accredited in accordance with international norms. Over 20,000 foods from around the world are tested every year. “The “DLG Award Winner” label is only issued to foods that have been found worthy of it in sensory testing and that satisfy the DLG’s stringent quality criteria”.
