See directly into the world of a hibernating Spirit Bear from The Great Bear Rainforest of British Columbia, Canada.
The White Kermode Spirit Bear exists on the west coast of BC, near Terrace. He's not an albino, he's a white phase black bear, as featured in the opening ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games.
First Nations mythology says Raven made one in ten black bears white to remind the people when the world was covered in white ice.
The Kermode Spirit Bear is an elusive bear to many. Even the people of Terrace, where the Kermode Bear is their mascot, few have actually seen one.

Now, BCSpiritbear's Live Cam is allowing the world it's first look into hibernating bear behavior. They have named this Spirit Bear; Apollo.
Most of the time, Apollo is an insomniac's cure, just snoozes away in his hibernation state. But as spring approaches, the live cam is recording some surprising movement.
March 3 2010, the Spirit Bear Live Cam recorded Apollo grooming himself after a day of rain. This clip, available on their home page, raises some interesting questions.
Why is he pulling at his paws with his teeth? Does he go right back into hibernation? Did the spring rains cause some mud in his den, causing him to clean himself?
Check out this rare insight into bear hibernation behavior.
