The CIO Utilities Summit Team Announces Keynote on Smart Grid and Changed Business Models

The CIO Utilities Summit team is pleased to announce further details concerning the technology event’s Monday night keynote, which will be presented by Alan Schurr, Vice President, Strategy and Development, IBM Global Energy & Utilities Industry. The CIO Utilities Summit will be held April 18-21, 2010, at the InterContinental Montelucia Resort in Scottsdale, AZ.

During his keynote, “Smart Grids and Changed Business Models—The Inevitabilities,” Schurr will outline current issues facing utility companies as they are confronted with an increased demand from policy makers to use renewable energy and achieve higher energy efficiency, while consumers demand more information and more options. Schurr will also address industry, enterprise and revenue model innovation, in light of the above demands, in an effort to help utility companies achieve and expand their mission and achieve economic growth. Schurr will present his keynote on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 7p.m.

The CIO Utilities Summit is an opportunity for CIOs and IT executives to network and learn about the latest technology topics and trends, including smart grid, data storage and management, customer care and billing and more.

Alan Schurr is responsible for IBM’s market strategy, regulatory policy, and partner management for the global electric, gas and water industries. In this role, Schurr is working with utility companies to accelerate the development of smart grid and the integration of renewable energy sources and distributed energy assets.
