Morgan Dempsey Announces New Ownership

Morgan Dempsey has announced that Brian Rafn, (Portfolio Manager Small/Micro-Cap Value) and David Durham, (Director of Sales and Marketing) have joined Marc Dion, CFA as principals of Morgan Dempsey Capital Management, LLC.

To go along with the ownership change, the company has redesigned their website, upgraded their server technology and has plans to hire an additional research analyst/trader to support their Small/Micro-Cap Value Strategy.

“Our goal when we purchased this business was to fortify our institutional capabilities and provide Brian and Marc with the support they need to best execute their unique investment strategies. We are putting a lot of effort into promoting our Small/Micro-Cap Strategy which we feel is extremely well suited for institutional investors. Our 3 and 5-year performance numbers have highlighted our ability to outperform in a variety of market conditions,” said David Durham, Co-Principal of Morgan Dempsey.

As of 12/31/09, Pensions & Investments ranked the Morgan Dempsey Small/Micro-Cap Strategy as the top performing small-cap blend separate account manager over the previous 5-years.

Tom Dempsey, who sold his majority interest to Brian and David, will remain on full time as managing director focusing on client service and helping the business partners grow the firm.
