Pat Farenga
Tigard Oregon — Homeschooling expert, Pat Farenga, is the keynote speaker for Oregon Home Education Network's (OHEN) 11th Convention at Tigard High School.
Farenga has spoken about homeschooling to audiences in the United States, Canada, Europe and Columbia. He has appeared on radio and television, including The Today Show, Voice of America, Geraldo, Learning Matters, CNN's Parenting Today, Fox & Friends.
As keynote speaker of the OHEN (http://www.ohen.org) convention, Farenga will address the topic: "The Priceless Learning in Everyday Life". There will be 3 one-hour workshops led by Farenga: "Working with Your Child's Strengths", "Living Better through Home Based Learning", and "Sit Down, Shut Up Do as I Say and Other Concepts of Education" .

Pat Farenga is the author of The Beginner’s Guide to Homeschooling and Teach Your Own: The John Holt Book of Homeschooling. He has written articles for numerous publications including Paths of Learning, Mothering, and Home Education Magazine. His most recent article about homeschooling is in the 3rd edition of the International Encyclopedia of Education. Farenga's work has been mentioned in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and The Boston Globe Magazine
Farenga worked with homeschool author John Holt until Holt's death in 1985. Farenga was the publisher of Growing Without Schooling (GWS) from 1985 to 2001.The nation's first periodical about homeschooling, GWS was begun by Holt in 1977. Farenga is President of Holt Associates Inc.

OHEN's 11th Convention is on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Tigard High School, 9000 SW Durham Road in Tigard, Oregon. The theme is "You're On the Right Track!"
