ROCKLEIGH, NJ, March 2, 2010 – Crestron hosted the fourth Eagles Program dedication ceremony yesterday at the Fort Sam Houston Fisher House near San Antonio, TX. New home theaters were unveiled in the building’s recreation room and lounge, donated to provide comfort and entertainment for America's heroes recovering from injuries sustained during combat overseas. The Crestron Eagles Program was conceived by Crestron President George Feldstein to honor the service and sacrifice of our wounded warriors returning home from battle.

The newly completed Army Fisher House (one of ten in the U.S.) is a collection of garden-style apartments that provide temporary homes for recovering soldiers and their families. The soldiers are being treated for severe injuries sustained in combat missions, sniper attacks and IEDs, and are now on a personal mission of recovery. Yesterday’s ceremony was an uplifting experience for all who participated.

Attending the ceremonial ribbon cutting were Colonel Mary Garr, U.S. Army Garrison Commander, Command Sergeant Major Raymond Houston, Mr. Rob “Robbie” Robinson, facility manager, George Feldstein, Crestron President and Pete Baca, Jr., USMC Ret., Crestron National Government Sales Manager.

"We are grateful and honored that you allowed us to thank you and show our appreciation for all that you have done for us," said Feldstein who then presented Col. Garr with a gold engraved plaque dedicating the theaters. The red, white and blue ribbon, held by two veteran soldiers, was cut by Col. Garr and Mr. Feldstein, officially opening the new “Home Away From Home Theaters.”

"We want to thank Crestron for giving us this very generous gift," said Colonel Garr. "I can't tell you how much all these soldiers and their families appreciate your support, and how much they enjoy the home theaters."

The installation would not have been possible without the donations and efforts of industry partners. AVI-SPL installed the system, ICD did all the programming, and the other vendors kindly gave the necessary equipment: Marshall Furniture (custom cabinets), Triad (speakers and stands) and Velodyne (sub-woofers). Crestron donated Adagio® home theater systems, CEN-IDOCVs (Interface for iPod®), TPS-6X touchpanels, 52” HD LCD displays and Blu-ray players. AVI-SPL’s Tom Corzine, Dannie Dement and Michael Roberts and Marshall Furniture’s John Ryter attended the event, along with Mr. Feldstein and a number of Crestron representatives.

The young men and women receiving treatment and recovering at the Brooke Army Medical Center – and their families – have to adjust to not only injuries and therapy, but living without the familiarity of home and old friends. The new theaters provide hours of fun and entertainment, and are a source of motivation to gather and socialize.
