(CARY, NC, USA) -- Setzer Design Group has announced the premier of “VL-20,” another futuristic design from its Vision Line -- this time in the form of a futuristic Catamaran.
The award-winning studio also has just released is a 32-meter advanced design created for Vicem Yachts of Turkey as a Raised Pilothouse Motoryacht.
At first glance, the 20-meter multi-hull appears to be a radical departure from the studio’s typical work. The hull’s striking twin reverse axe-bows and swept lines are highly functional, powered by twin pod drives. The extreme sculpting of the main house and deck superstructure blends with elements, inspired by client requests, to mimic sports car designs. Accommodations include three guest staterooms, generous salon, pilothouse, galley and pantry, as well as various equipment lockers, an over-sized aft deck, and a retracting swim platform sport deck.
Further imagery and performance data will be released in the months ahead as the production documents take shape and the overall design is refined. The project is currently being tendered to Asian yards.
The project commissioned for Vicem Yachts of Turkey started at 28 meters but has grown to top out at 32 meters in the form of a RPH Raised Pilothouse design with highly swept lines. The result is a design that has an on-deck master suite as well as four guest accommodations below decks and twin crew cabins aft. With an overall beam of 7 meters, the accommodations throughout are generous. Walk-around decks, including an up-and-over feature forward of the full beam master suite, give the vessel a large, impressive presence. This challenged the Setzer studio to keep the vessel sleek rather than allowing it to appear top heavy or boxy. After multiple styling studies, the combination of hull lines and superstructure elements combined to form a visually pleasing motoryacht.
The Vicem design is meant for fast cruising in style and comfort via twin MTU 16V2000’s with a projected top speed of 26 knots -- all while carrying plenty of fuel and water stores for extended trips. The contemporary interior design will be created by Art Line. As Vicem continues to build its fleet of motoryacht offerings, this project should be the perfect fit for its future.
