Lee Mill, Devon – UK lingerie retailer Wickedelic Lingerie has announced a dramatic surge in the sales of nipple covers.
The Devon-based company reported a 20 per cent increase in online sales of nipple tassels in the six weeks to February 20, compared with the previous six weeks.
Nick Gibbens, Wickedelic Lingerie Web Manager, has attributed the bumper sales to top celebrities, who are increasingly wearing underwear as "outerwear"
He said: “Sexy items normally only seen in the bedroom such as corsets, suspenders and lace bodies are regularly being worn by top pop stars Lily Allen, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna in place of traditional tops.
“This has led to more women purchasing see-through garments, and because they want to wear them in public, they have been investing in nipple tassels.”
