March 1, 2010 - PRLog -- Award-winning audio visual and IT rental company DB Systems has won a major contract to supply the internet and telecommunications systems and services to all exhibitors at the 2010 and 2012 Farnborough International Airshows.

DB will be responsible for the telecommunications needs, including the supply of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), for around 1,300 exhibitors and 60 business chalets, which are the areas where multi-national companies decamp during the airshow. These chalets become large-scale, semi-permanent business centres and offices, as well as hospitality areas.

This move into the internet and telecommunications market will involve a significant investment by DB in equipment and systems, including purchasing around 2,000 IP phones.

While DB already has a well-earned reputation for being a leading AV & IT provider to the global exhibition industry, this investment in the telecommunications sector will allow the company to provide a greater range of bespoke solutions for various events, from outdoor events to those staged in temporary venues.

Farnborough International Airshow is the world’s premier event for the aerospace industry, providing companies from all over the world with a platform to conduct business, cumulatively worth billions of pounds. DB Systems has worked as a contractor at Farnborough International Airshow since 1994 and has developed an in-depth knowledge about the event and site.

Grahame Jones Operations Director for Farnborough International Ltd, said: “Following an extensive and detailed tender process, DB Systems was chosen not only for its technical ability but also the company’s customer focused operation. The solution that DB proposed allows for maximum flexibility whilst keeping the order process simple”.

“DB Systems has worked as a contractor at Farnborough since the early 1990s and knows the event and the site very well, already working very closely with many stand builders and design agencies and this familiarity will benefit our customers, as well as help DB deliver a contract of this size and importance.”

David Bulley, Managing Director of DB Systems, added: “We are delighted to have won this contract, both to be working in partnership with Farnborough International and also on a strategic level. We’re a very technical rental company so it’s particularly logical for us to move into the market of supplying VoIP telephony and internet services to events.

“These are exciting times for DB as the investment in VoIP telephony means we can now supply systems to those events staged at temporary venues, such as agricultural shows, festivals and sports events, in addition to those at traditional venues, where we will continue to maintain a presence as a supplier of bespoke AV and IT services and systems.”
