The winner of the Miss Black Massachusetts pageant is more than a pretty face. She represents a whole and complete package with her intelligence, wit, charm, and self-confidence. As Mrs Dima Uchendu-Hendricks the Director of the Miss Black Massachusetts Pageant stated to Hot Stepz Magazine CEO J. Lynda Blake a contestant’s ability to articulate will exhibit her inner beauty and positive qualities.
Dima a former Miss Black Massachusetts herself knows full well that contestants are not judged against each other but on their own individual merit.
The pageant has continued the tradition of not allowing race, religion, political preference or height should to have a bearing on a contestants standing.
Judges do not score a delegate higher in one category just because she
excells in one particular category. Judges the merit individuals in each category separately. Miss Uchendu-Hendricks expects this year to be one of the most promising for the pageant with so many young women of color attending institutions of higher learning and difficult economic times the scholarships the pageant represents not to mention the chance to travel is an opportunity many students can’t afford to pass up. In a very shrewd move
The pageant has decided to partner with several large companies including Hot Stepz and its Boston Media Cast affiliate. Miss Uchendu-Hendricks hopes the intense visibility and promotional power these vehicles offer will allow the public to be informed about the value and history of the pageant and its importance to the commonwealth as a whole.
