Cusomers are urged to book ahead for car hire in the summer months of 2010. Spain saw a shortage of vehicle availability in the summer of 2009. Murcia and Alicante airports were badly hit and many visitors were left with inflated rental prices or no car availability at all.
The shortage was due to a lack of reinvestment in new cars by car rental companies as the recession took hold and a shifting of stock to Portugal and France.
