Arizona’s Pest Experts forecast Busy Bug Season

Homeowners advised to brace for spring invasion of Arizona pests

Feb. 26, 2010 - PRLog -- Local Pest Expert Loretta Schrader predicts the Metro Phoenix area will see larger than normal bug activity once temperatures hit the 75-80 degree levels.

“Winter rain levels… well above normal… should make conditions conducive for our desert pests this spring.”

Last summer proved to be the “Year of the Ant” as increased service calls were noted for Foreign Crazy ants in yards and “black ants” inside homes and businesses.

Already we are seeing increased ant activity that is usually followed by the flying pests…such as bees and flies.

Schrader notes that increased water levels in Phoenix sewers have driven American roaches (Sewer roaches) out and into outside harborage areas.  As temperatures warm these roaches will be more active and visible.

Homeowners are advised to keep their lawns cut short and remove weeds this spring.  Plants, bushes, and stored items around your home provide the harborage areas that most desert pests thrive in.
