Mike Dean, president of Yaga’s Entertainment, Inc. and Yaga’s Café, announced that historic downtown Galveston will be the site for the inaugural Galveston Island Food and Wine Festival on April 16 – 17. This two-day event includes an invitation only Chaîne black tie dinner on Friday and a public wine tasting event on Saturday from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m. in Saengerfest Park, 23rd and Strand. This year, the festival will feature South American wines complemented by live Latin music and entertainment. Festival goers can also enjoy chocolate, cheese and food bites from area restaurants as well as American wines.
Saturday’s event will offer two levels of wine and ticket prices. A general tasting ticket is $45 in advance or $60 on the day of the event and a premium tasting ticket is $65 in advance or $75 on the day of the event. Both tickets include a commemorative souvenir glass, live entertainment, wine tastings and opportunity to win door prizes as well as Saturday night dining-wine pairing discounts at area restaurants. Proceeds will benefit local Galveston charities.
