And it’s not hard to figure out why. Young adults who are waiting until they are over the age of 18 can get their license without any sort of training or education, so it’s no wonder they’re involved in significantly more accidents than any other age group, including new drivers ages 15-17.
That’s where I DRIVE SAFELY comes in. Beginning March 1, 2010, Texas law will require adults ages 18-24 to pass an approved Texas Adult Driver Education course. I DRIVE SAFELY offers an online version of Texas Adult Drivers Ed that offers much more convenience and flexibility than a traditional classroom course. And, they are the sole TEA-approved online provider (CP2267
“Our Texas Adult course is 100% online, which makes it really convenient,”
The course is completely Flash-based, which makes it really easy to take. “All you really have to do is sit back and watch while our course teaches you everything you need to know to be a safe driver,” says an I DRIVE SAFELY spokesperson. “It’s definitely one of the coolest courses we offer.”
How Texas Adult Drivers Ed Works
Divided into nine chapters, the course creatively teaches everything from basic road laws to defensive driving skills. At the end of each chapter, there is a 10-question quiz that needs to be passed in order to proceed to the next chapter (this quiz can be taken as many times necessary to pass). Once all chapters have been completed, there is a 30-question course final exam that must be passed with at least a 70%. Students will get three attempts to pass the final, and, if failed a fourth time, the course will have to be re-taken.
Once the course has been completed, a Certificate of Completion will be sent in the mail, which will need to be taken to the DPS. At the DPS, a written and vision exam must be passed in order to get a driver’s license.
“We’ve recognized the need for driver education for adults ages 18-24, and are proud to offer a course that is both easy and convenient to take,” says and I DRIVE SAFELY spokesperson. “Our goal is to ultimately reduce the number of accidents within the 18-24 age group by providing them with the education they need to stay safe on the road.”
