A Man Has A Two Hour Interview With An Angel.

Did Adam and Eve have bellybuttons? Does God wear a robe? If so, who does the laundry? Perhaps we ask the wrong questions about our universe. The answers to "where did we come from and why are we here" are the easy questions. Do angels catch colds?

The Ant God

By

Kelton Drew Earl

“Drew,” the central character of The Ant God, lives a solitary life in a small apartment where he keeps an ant farm as a hobby. He watches the existence of the ants as they go about their daily lives, realizing, while he can control their existence, he cannot control their individual thoughts, or actions.
His life is dramatically interrupted when he wins an “interview with an angel.” The interview lasts two hours wherein Drew presents any conceivable question he can think of, and they are freely answered for him. Drew presents hundreds of rapid fire questions ranging from humor to war, from the profound to the trivial and from generalities to the love life of the angels. Did Adam and Eve have belly buttons? Does God really care about us? How big is the universe? Why did God ask where Adam was, in the Garden of Eden?  He is God, didn’t he know?
The Ant God is crafted in a way, which guides the reader through a spiritual but humorous journey of personal introspection. The angel responds at “…a level… (Drew) can understand.” The angel draws comparisons between God and earth, and Drew and his ant farm. The Ant God points out clearly the fleeting and fragile nature of human existence. The central point of The Ant God is that our best performance, in any endeavor we choose is divine. Doing the best we can do in life is the fundamental charge of earthly existence.
