"Congratulations to Stonehurst Place in Atlanta, GA, recently chosen as the “Most Green Conscious B&B” out of 8,500 B&B’s around the world,” commented Pamela Lanier, one of the most highly recognized names in the B&B industry. “Barb Shadomy (owner) certainly earned this prestigious award; her hard work and effort has not gone unnoticed by the traveling public!" The well-known LanierBB.com named Stonehurst Place during its 26th annual “Guests’ Greatest Picks Award Program” when it announced the 2010 winners.
Since 1982, Pamela Lanier’s Bed and Breakfasts, Inns and Guesthouses International has provided inn goers with a comprehensive variety of boutique lodgings. The oldest and most prestigious B&B vote program in the world, guests may vote for any bed and breakfast in over 80 categories on LanierBB.com. Winners are announced in Lanier’s print guide, The Complete Guide to Bed & Breakfasts, Inns and Guesthouses International, award-wining website, newsletters and with press affiliates.
“A beautiful house with the most wonderful service and a really comfy bed! What more could one ask for?” said one reviewer. “I applaud the eco-friendly elements and look forward to a return visit.” The award comes as Stonehurst Place enters its second year of operation under owner Barb Shadomy’s direction.
“It is so encouraging to be named a winner by LanierBB.com based on what guests think of our green and eco-friendly practices,” said Shadomy. “I love that our guests appreciate the many little things you can do that add up to a whole lot of green.”
Stonehurst Place, originally built in 1896, features three suites and two rooms with private baths and is located in Midtown Atlanta’s art and theatre district. It features a wide array of designer interiors and fine art including original works by the likes of Andy Warhol and Dale Chihuly juxtaposed with a recycled porcelain sculpture by local artist Joan Goodyear.
Guests enjoy luxurious pampering and soothing privacy in this National Register Historic Property fully renovated with eco-friendly enhancements. Among the environmentally friendly efforts are a Brac solar thermal system that heats water used in the home and two 1700-gallon cisterns that hold harvested rain water for irrigation of the beautifully landscaped gardens. More than $1 million dollars was spent renovating the property to its current grandeur.
