“One of the most special rings for engagement is antique diamond rings. These precious rings require maintenance to sparkle so it would not look dull. There are some rings owners bring it to professional ring cleaner to have it cleaned but you also have the option do it yourself, here are some steps how to clean antique diamond rings:
1) Prepare a small bowl that has good depth which will be filled with the necessary cleaning solution for the ring. The solution that must be used must not be strong. A mild solution is highly recommended like dish detergent.
2) Next, prepare second bowl that will be used for rinsing. This is because others would rinse the ring in the sink but accidentally let the ring slip and fall.
3) Use a gentle brush in cleaning the antique ring. You must be very careful in brushing the ring, gentle enough not to scratch the ring and the stone. A good example of brush that can be used is toothbrush that were made or manufactured for children. This is because the kid's toothbrush usually has soft bristles. This can be ideal for the ring because it could not affect its metal setting.
4) Wipe the water off from the ring by using a lint free cloth.
5) Then prepare a toothpick that can be used for the cleaning procedure as well.
The antique diamond rings will be soaked to the first bowl with the solution for 15 to 20 minutes. After 15 minutes, use the toothbrush and gently scrub the stone of the ring. After which, rinse it thoroughly with water in the separate bowl while continuously gently brushing the ring. If you would see some dirt or debris in the stone, you may use the toothpick to pry loose the debris. Thoroughly check the ring from any dirt, and then do the final rinsing. You can do this by swishing the ring in the prepared rinsing bowl. After rinsing, with the use of lint free cloth, dry it up.”
