“Who’s this?” I ask one of the ordained figures draped in LMLA-ink’s label about the music.
“KORA – Down The Road,” Metofeaz’s theme song in “The Guy,” Arley Evon says. The attractive woman who could stand in for Eva Mendez holds out her hand.
“We need an expert,” John Reyer calls out for her to come down to the last booth, where he, John Lazoo, and John Fontain are working.
I step to the side where I find the bar to lean on, hoping the position makes me seem inconspicuous.
Behind the bar, a younger woman, proficient at what she does, pulls levers on the coffee machine and pushes cups, as she serves up brew. “Would you like one?” the full lips on an elegant face move, and then I believe that she is asking moi.
“I’m here to see Rocol,” I say. I nod my head at the same time my hand points at the last booth. My body does a full spasm she ignores, apparently used to this response to her from members of the opposite sex.
I quickly gain control of myself when I realize John Reyer is looking directly at me.
“Rocol’s out of town. I’m Ish. Researcher, Ish.” The voice from behind the bar registers, as Amy Winehouse and “You Know I’m No Good,” immediately raise hairs on the back of my neck. Instantly, I am transported to the SFD like I’m in a scene from “The Guy.”
“…We used to frown upon wrinkle cream and its promises, now we can’t get rid of the frown from Botox…” I latch onto the last of what John Fontain the PR guy says as I catch myself in the mirrors etched in gold Aztec carvings, checking for my wallet and then my wristwatch, which I conveniently look at, and announce, “I’ve got a meeting; when’s Rocol back?”
I turn to face the bar as I hear footsteps and then next to me is John James Lazoo.
“We’re having a meaningful discussion about what works and what doesn’t work when it comes to weight loss. Would you like to join us?” I have to look at him to confirm he is the source of the words.
I find myself shaking my head as I spread my arms on the bar for support. As my head begins to spin, I tell myself, “I have to get out of here.”
“Sorry?” Lazoo says as I muster the strength to turn my back on the chance to get close to John Reyer Afamasaga and his crew…
Outside in the cold air, my body goes through phases of recovery—caused by what I can best describe as witchcraft—from nausea to elation, which is quickly disturbed by my buzzing smart phone.
I reach into my jacket pocket to find the phone, which tells me of the latest Press Release on PRLog’s eFashionWire:
I came here to interview Rocol Récene, LMLA-ink’s spokesperson, about John Reyer’s new Kindle eBook “The Guy.” Instead, I find myself fleeing the scene.
