While John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo scored major box-office triumphs in 2009 with other on-screen love interests – John Lloyd with Sarah Geronimo in You Changed My Life and Bea with Sam Milby in And I Love You So – their legion of fans missed seeing their phenomenal loveteam in a movie for almost three years.
This March, the celebrated on-screen couple reunites in a major way with Star Cinema’s latest romance drama, Miss You Like Crazy. Fans in the U.S. will be delighted to know that Bea will be gracing the movie’s premieres in Los Angeles on March 12 and in Honolulu on March 14.
“Regalo namin ito sa mga fans namin (This is our gift to our fans),” says Bea, whose last film team-up with John Lloyd was One More Chance that earned for them the titles of Box Office King and Queen for 2007. The film not only boosted the couple’s Philippine fan base but also strengthened their global following, making them the top love team among Filipino audiences all over the world.
Yet fans should be ready for a different John Lloyd and Bea in Miss You Like Crazy. The two actors have been exercising their acting chops playing more mature roles and complex, conflicted characters. In Miss You Like Crazy, John Lloyd plays the role of Allan, a man on top of his game professionally and enjoying a stable relationship with his dream girl, Daphne (played by rising star Maricar Reyes). Bea breathes life to the character of Mia, a Filipina front desk officer working in Kuala Lumpur who is looking for a change in what seems to be a forlorn life. Two individuals with seemingly predestined lives suddenly find their paths crossing on a ferry boat ride that will change the course of their journeys forever.
The film has been described as an “imperfect love story”: finding your perfect match at an imperfect time of your life. At the helm of this highly anticipated John Lloyd-Bea reunion is no less than Cathy Garcia-Molina who directed One More Chance and scored back-to-back hits herself with John Lloyd and Sarah Geronimo in A Very Special Love and You Changed My Life. The director revealed that 60 percent of the movie was shot in Malaysia. For Miss You Like Crazy, Erik Santos sings the theme song and 90’s hit of the same title.
“For this on-screen comeback of John Lloyd and Bea, we are aware that fans have high expectations. So, Star Cinema made sure to come up with a film that’s worth the wait,” said Kerwin Du, ABS-CBN International’
