Follow on Google News | Albert Tuzolana- Master Of SableismeIt is not always those that have the most that are the ones that achieve greatness, but often those that do the most with what they have. Painter Albert Tuzolana is definitely an example of the latter. Come experience his passion captured on canvas.
By: African Visions Art Gallery Albert Tuzolana was born in Kolo (Bas Congo) in 1955, and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa until 1980. He has both Belgian and Congolese citizenship. He currently lives in Brussels, and is a representative of the African platform from the museum of Tervuren. He also hold the prestigious distinction of being the first African included in the Belgian Arto dictionary. It was necessity that led Mr. Tuzolana to adopt the technique that would become his signature style. A shortage in painting supplies, led him to seek alternative methods to continue with his passion for painting. This led him to Sableisme. Sableisme is the use of sand stained with pure pigment, and fixed with a flexible adhesive. The inclusion of the sand gives a subtle brilliance, as the light is absorbed and reflected.
