DALCO 2009 Oldest Furnace Contest
Denver, CO, April 6, 2009: DALCO Heating and Air Conditioning declared Jana Burr winner of their “Denver’s Oldest Furnace” Contest. Burr of Denver was declared the winner on Thursday, March 30, after the inspection of her 1925 vintage furnace. Immediately following the inspection, Burr was awarded a new, high-efficiency, Trane furnace complete with installation by DALCO’s technicians.
Burr’s antique, coal-burning furnace was original to her home and was converted to natural gas in the 1940’s. The furnace maintained an efficiency of 40 percent, causing Burr’s home to emit a high amount of carbon dioxide and also kept her energy bills high. Upon inspection, DALCO’s technicians discovered asbestos contained within the ductwork connected to furnace.
Will Sumners, President of DALCO, chose to run the contest in effort to give back to the community and to increase public awareness of the benefits related to high-efficiency appliances. Modern furnaces are safer, better for the environment, and result in lower energy costs – overall a good investment for homeowners. Due to the success and overwhelming response from the contest, Sumners intends to run the contest annually.
Burr stated she was happy to be declared the grand-prize winner, and is excited to discover the value her new furnace has added to her home. Jana Burr told a DALCO representative, “there is now room in my basement! Winning the contest was a fun adventure.”
