The International Sustainability Council (ISC) announced today that the Village of Blume, a newly planned neighborhood located in Harrisburg, North Carolina has been designated as an ISC Chartered Member.
The ISC is a not-for-profit coalition of leaders, dedicated to advancing the understanding between ecological, social and economic systems for the mutual benefit of people and the environment.
The developer of the project, Taylor Properties Group LLC, sought assistance from Audubon Lifestyles, Inc. a non-profit organization believing that the most natural way to foster sustainability is by working to balance the triple bottom line of people, profit, and planet. Operating with the main purpose of benefiting society, Audubon Lifestyles delivers sustainable programming, services and certifications that are cost effective and reduce risk. With their guidance and support the Village of Blume is proud to have successfully developed an approved Sustainability Charter that complements the development’
“Creating and implementing a Sustainability Charter is the key first step in becoming truly engaged in sustainability. A Sustainability Charter lays the framework upon which all sustainable endeavors should begin.” said R. The ISC Principles of Sustainability serves as a basis for preparing and adopting a place-based Sustainability Charter for governmental agencies, universities, businesses and not-for-profit organizations, and becomes a public declaration of how the ISC Chartered Member intends to manage itself over time, and in accordance with the Principles of Sustainability.
