La Immigrata depicts how newly arriving immigrants in America were treated and the turmoil they had to endure. Over 22 million immigrants entered the United States through Ellis Island between 1892 and 1924, traveling mainly from Southern European regions. Almost half the nation has ancestors that came to the states in this timeframe.
Salt Lake resident Anna Florin, author of La Immigrata, said today that, “There’s a generous amount of history sprinkled throughout the book to create an enjoyable lesson in the past. We’ve covered the Industrial Revolution and its many inventions, plus we’ve looked into both World Wars to see why they were fought. Since our immigrant travels to Utah, we’ve also got some detailed history of the Salt Lake Valley and its growth.”
Learn how Prohibition, immigration quotas and the Great Depression affected our immigrant family and how they coped with their many losses.
Author Anna Florin grew up in Salt Lake City and is excited to showcase her hometown in this new book. You can find more information by visiting the publisher’
