St.Vincent Geist Half Marathon & 5K Announces Partnership with Comcast

March 1, 2010 - PRLog -- Today, St. Vincent Geist Half Marathon & 5K organizers announced that Comcast has agreed to be the presenting sponsor of this year’s “Race Around the Reservoir” to be held on Saturday, May 22, 2010.

“Comcast has been with us since our inaugural race two years ago,” said Tom Britt, president and founding board member of the Geist Half Marathon Inc. “Thanks to their support, we’ll be able to expand our awareness efforts throughout central Indiana.”

Organized to inspire health and wellness in children who live around Geist Reservoir, the St. Vincent Geist Half Marathon & 5K Presented by Comcast has been sold out every year. Over $36,000 from last year’s proceeds have already been donated to Geist area schools and other grants are expected to be announced in March.

As the presenting sponsor, Comcast will be airing 30 second Public Service Announcements throughout their central Indiana cable systems promoting the May 22 race.

“Comcast is committed to investing in the communities where our customers and our employees live and work,” said Scott Tenney, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Indianapolis Region. “We’re excited to be supporting this year’s race to benefit the health and wellness of Geist Reservoir children.”

Runners in the St. Vincent Geist Half Marathon & 5K Presented by Comcast will run through established neighborhoods, cross Geist Reservoir multiple times and finish at the Geist Marina Village. Deemed one of the most scenic courses in the Midwest, last year’s “Race Around the Reservoir” received a 92 percent approval rating from participants.
