PRLog (Press Release) - Feb 24, 2010 -
The range includes 70% bamboo and 30% organic cotton tees that are super soft and beautiful to wear, as well as 100% organic cotton tees for men and women.

A Vegan Era tee is lovingly grown, sewn, printed and delivered to your door in the most environmentally and socially responsible way.  The organic cotton is grown by organic farmers in India, where the crops are tended to by Heaven with the monsoonal rain.  The fluffy balls of fun are then hand-picked at just the right time of the day so that the plant releases them without a struggle.  The harvested bundles then travel from field to mill where they are knitted with silky bamboo fibres to create THE softest, most awesome tee on the planet.  It even has 98% UV protection!  Bamboo is considered one of the most sustainable crops on the planet, as it grows fast and needs very little water.  The tees are all sewn up in a people and planet positive environment in Turkey, ethically audited by Fairwear Foundation.  It then sails across the seas to Australia.  The funky dudes at Vegan Era come up with some cool designs and then the tee is lovingly printed in Byron Bay, with water based, low-impact dye by the wonderful people at Moral Fibre.

The Vegan Era tees are part of an overall mission by the Vegan Era Crew to promote a compassionate lifestyle.  The Vegan Era website is dedicated to delivering inspiring, uplifting and constructive news as well as information and resources for those interested in choosing a vegan lifestyle.  From the latest climate news to what’s green & gorgeous, there is something for everyone.

Vegan Era was founded by David Rafter, 29 and Amanda Rootsey, 25, both based in Noosa, Queensland.

“I have come to be vegan primarily from a health perspective.  I was diagnosed with cancer in March 2009 and have since learned of the harmful effects of a meat-based diet and the healing properties of a plant-based diet,” Amanda said.  “Now I feel incredible and want everyone to feel this good!”

For David, this project, “feels like a life long ambition, and bringing this service to the world
brings much love and happiness to my heart.” As the youngest of 10 children, and younger
brother of tennis professional Patrick Rafter, David noticed the benefits of being vegan and
athletic performance. Through this, David felt compelled to bring this to the world.

The tees are available online at www.veganera.com.
