Wave Sport’s Olaf Obsommer Earns Top Honors From the Reel Paddling Film Festival

Feb. 24, 2010 - PRLog -- Wave Sport congratulates Team Europe ambassador Olaf Obsommer’s filmmaking success at the 5th Annual Reel Paddling Film Festival this past weekend in Toronto.

Olaf, of Germany, teamed up with Jared Meehan to produce the film, “Into Perpetual Ice,” documenting the expedition of five kayakers seeking the adventurous whitewater possibilities of Greenland. The story blends the endless search for whitewater and the effects of major climate change on the remote, high latitude island. By applying his skills and passion for boating, along with his impressive experience in filmmaking, Olaf and Jared’s film captured the audiences of the film festival and took home the title of the “Best Whitewater Film.”  

The Reel Paddling Film Festival is a film contest that showcases the world’s best paddling films. Last weekend, the largest premiere audience in festival history was treated to the first screening of this year’s award winning films, including, “Into Perpetual Ice.” There are 37 shortlisted films with nine categories.

The premier screening in Toronto kicked off a World Tour of the Reel Paddling Film Festival. The international tour will travel to 75 cities, with showings hosted by paddling shops, clubs and events.
