Phoenix Possibilities is Out on a Limb and Loving It

Phoenix Possibilities Inc. has won the Asheville Chamber of Commerce’ We’re for Business Out on a Limb Award for innovation in the 1-15 employees category.  At a luncheon presented by SunTrust, companies were recognized for their outstanding achievements in the categories of customer service, innovation, community service, and environmental practices.

Owners Lucy Morris and Paula Sellars were honored for their innovative approach to large-scale social change curriculum design, using a method trademarked by the company, called Docutraining™.  A Docutraining™ is a film and workbook curriculum that feels like a documentary, and functions like a training.  The inner skills taught in a Docutraining are derived from Phoenix Possibilities’ premier program, Cliff Jumping®, a course in personal risk. Phoenix Possibilities has used this curriculum design method for large-scale projects such as child sexual abuse prevention for adults who serve children in schools, healthcare settings, community services and recreational activities.  In fact, the course, Stewards of Children, is utilized in 47 states in the U.S. and 11 countries internationally.  Another Docutraining™ created by Phoenix Possibilities is Partnerships in Motion: a Renaissance in Aging, a curriculum that encourages vitality and mutual contribution between those who are aging and those in relationship with them - their family, friends, workplace, and community.  Phoenix Possibilities was honored for its capacity to influence large-scale social change by filming real-life examples of the very best in people, and teaching the inner skills to become our best selves in challenging life circumstances.
