Nowinnofee.co.uk Calls for Winter Tyres to be made a Legal Requirement

Nowinnofee.co.uk, an independent resource website for people looking to pursue compensation claims, is calling for a change in UK motoring law making winter tyres a legal requirement for all vehicles.

The petition comes after the site saw an increase in the number of whiplash claims over the latest bout of bad weather, demonstrating the dangers that heavy snowfall and icy temperatures bring.

Tom Johnson, founder of Nowinnofee.co.uk said; “The number of leads received during the winter period has been overwhelming and has made the dangers of winter driving very evident. Winter tyres are a legal requirement in most EU countries but not in the UK, and the switch could help prevent thousands of accidents on our roads every year.

“Winter tyres can be used on snow, slush, ice, frost and even wet roads and as soon as the temperature dips below 7°C their effectiveness comes into play, meaning UK motorists could get good use out of their winter tyres for a good 50% of the year. Many manufacturers actually recommend winter tyres are used all year round in Britain as the performance in damp, mild and even warm environments remains superior. Only in extremely hot temperatures would summer tyres be preferable.”

Nowinnofee.co.uk was founded by Tom Johnson after he suffered whiplash in a car accident. The site aims to dispel the myths surrounding “no win no fee” claims and also guide site users into how they can move things forward without incurring major legal fees. The site answers many of the common questions asked by consumers looking for compensation, or refers them on to a solicitor for more specific and detailed legal advice.
