Caravaggio exhibition on display in Rome

The 400th anniversary of Caravaggio's death is to be marked with an exhibition of the artists work at the Scuderie del Quirinale in Rome.

Art enthusiasts will no doubt be familiar with his chiaroscuro technique of painting and be hugely excited to see many of his works gathered together for such a showcase.

Now, travellers staying in hotels in Rome (http://www.laterooms.com/en/k13659368_rome-hotels.aspx) will be able to see 24 of the artist's pieces that have been brought in from international collections, including masterpieces such as Lute Player from the Hermitage in St Petersburg and Bacchus from the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.

The show will be running until June 13th and will celebrate the life and mysterious death of the great painter.

Caravaggio, whose real name was Michelangelo Merisi, pioneered the Baroque school of painting with his art, but during his lifetime he was involved in many brawls and died before his 40th birthday.

People who want to check out the collection, which also features David With The Head of Goliath and Musicians from the Borghese Gallery in Rome and the Met in New York respectively, can get there easily by public transport.

The museum is open 10:00 to 20:00 (local time) Sunday to Thursday and 10:00 to 22:30 on Fridays and Saturdays, with entrance costing €10 (£8.80).
