Santa Barbara, Calif. – (Feb. 23, 2010) – Santa Barbara locals, owners of Trotter Productions, and Brooks Institute faculty members Tracy and Judy Trotter are gearing up for participation in this year’s Santa Barbara International Film Festival with an innovative new offering to the festival line-up. This year’s contribution, Blue Belle, was created in collaboration with writer & director Perry Lang and is breaking new ground for the festival.
“We have participated with SBIFF each year during the past 10 years and have participated in conjunction with Kodak. We have also had movies in several categories,”
Blue Belle will premiere to the world at www.3MinutePictures.com. At 21 episodes, each only three minutes in length, Blue Belle will tease SBIFF viewers into her world with each randomly selected episode. “Depending on which movie you see, you will catch a random episode. You may start with episode three and then see episode six at the next screening,” said Tracy.
Blue Belle is the story of a woman trying to live two lives, exclusive of each other: one during the week as a high school teacher in Santa Barbara, and the other as a prostitute in Las Vegas feeding her adolescent neurosis. Produced by Judy Trotter, with Tracy Trotter serving as lead cinematographer, this series is sure to lure the audience into Blue’s world.
In addition to teaching and producing, Judy has served as an assistant director and stage manager for the Director’s Guild of America. Writer and director Perry Lang has directed many hours of television including NYPD Blue, ER, Alias, Weeds, and this season’s new hit, NCIS: Los Angeles. Lead Actress Tessa Thompson got her start in theatre and made her professional debut at eighteen playing Juliet in Romeo and Juliet: Antebellum New Orleans 1836. Thompson has recently held recurring roles on Grey’s Anatomy, Heroes, and Private Practice and has gone on to star in several independent films working with many promising first time directors including Jada Pinkett Smith.
The crew was made up of Brooks Institute alumni and students with alumnus Brent Sumner, owner of Santa Barbara production house Studio 8, serving as production supervisor and alumni Blair Madigan and Nick Piatnick serving as cinematographers.
