A zany and colourful afternoon tea fit for a Mad Hatter’s tea party and inspired by the novel ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ will be available throughout March at The Langham, Auckland.

The five-star hotel’s award winning signature afternoon tea has been given a fantastical and fun finish for the upcoming month and is even more spectacular than normal says Rachel Broadmore, Marketing Communications Manager.

“The Langham has a number of connections with the great novel by Louis Carroll, from tea parties to wonderland experiences and also the fact that original The Langham hotel in London opened in 1865, the year Louis Carroll wrote his famous book.”

“To make our Wonderland Afternoon Tea even more fun we are encouraging people to wear a hat when they visit The Langham as befitting a true Mad Hatter’s tea party! We also have some exciting spot prizes to give away daily at the afternoon tea sittings throughout the month,” says Miss Broadmore.

The Wonderland Afternoon Tea is served on a three-tiered cake stand with a range of exotic teas and espresso coffee. The vibrant afternoon tea includes moist chocolate sludge cake, fresh fruit tartlets with pistachio, pink frosted cupcakes, opera cake, chocolate dipped strawberries, petite macaroons, and hand made chocolate and honey truffles to name but some of the selection. Dainty sandwiches on mutli-coloured bread have been especially created for the afternoon tea to give it an even more outlandish appeal.

The Wonderland Afternoon Tea will run from 1 – 31 March and is a treat for both adults and children alike. Available daily in The Winery from 12 noon – 4.30pm. NZ$36 per adult and NZ$18 for children under the age of 12 years old. Reservations are essential and can be made by calling 0800 61 62 61.
