10th Anniversary of Ameeraga Thamiz Mandram – A Tamil Association

Ameeraga Thamiz Mandram celebrated its tenth anniversary at Dubai Higher Colleges of Technology for Women with pomp and show on 18th February evening. The association is propagating the use of Tamil Language in Computers.

Feb. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Ameeraga Thamiz Mandram celebrated its tenth anniversary at Dubai Higher Colleges of Technology for Women with pomp and show on 18th February evening. The association is propagating the use of Tamil Language in Computers.

It was an exciting view to see the members of the association immaculately dressed in traditional Dhoti and Shirt. The days function began with the recital of Tamil Anthem.  Colourful cultural programmes by the member’s kids enthralled the audiences.

A demo of how to use the Tamil software was conducted, and the association president Mr. Asi Meeran invited the members to join the computer workshop, to be conducted by the Association. Secretary of the Association, Mr Farook Aliyar detailed the association's past activities, and the future plans.

Variety of entertainment programmes were performed by the small screen celebrities of Tamil Nadu, who had specially flown to Emirates to attend the function.  Famous Mimicry Artist, Mr. Robo shankar's mimicry entertained the audience.  Siva Karthikeyan's mimicry received high round of applause.  Famous Tamil Comedian Actor Kanja Karuppu, Tamil Actor ‘Azhagar Malai’ R.K.  and Mr. Anwar Batcha, Director, ETA Group Electrical and Mechanical Division participated in the function as special invitees.

Mr Asif Meeran, introduced the souvenir, and Alagarmalai R.K. released the Souvenir. Kanja Karuppu and Anwar Batcha received the first copies.

During the event the pre-recorded visual wishes and messages from the celebrities Cricket Commentator Mr. Abdul Jabbar, TN Waqf Board Chairman Kaviko Abdul Rahman, Actor Shivkumar, Director Meera Kathiravan and Padmashiri. Kamal Hassan were screened which gave the audience tremendous happiness and surprise.

Highlight of the celebration was the debate conducted by the TV Chat Show fame, Gopinath. The topic for discussion was "Is The Life Of The Repatriates, Pleasure or Burden?" More than 20 participants discussed the issue, which was effectively handled by Gopinath the mediator.   Listening to the light heartened chat show live was a memorable incident to the audience, which continued even after midnight. Earlier, the Chat Show host, Gopinath was felicitated by Mr Asif Meeran. Veteran Photo Journalist  Mr. Shahul Hameed and Photographer in Emirates, Mr Noorul Ameen were also felicitated.

Finally, a lucky draw was conducted for the audiences and prizes were given to the winners. The programme was anchored by the Association's Joint Secretary Ms Jazeela. Association's advisor Ahmed Mohideen delivered the vote of thanks.

Ameeraga Thamiz Mandram (ATM), is the premium Tamil community Association in Dubai, U.A.E. operating for the past 10 years.
