An Ohio man didn't agree with the way his bank was dealing with his home and decided to send a message loud and clear when he bulldozed his house earlier this month.
According to WLWT-TV, Terry Hoskins, of Moscow, Ohio, says that he has been fighting with RiverHills Bank for years over his house in Clermont County. He also has had trouble with the IRS who placed liens on his carpet business while the bank claimed his house as collateral.
Hoskins' troubles began after his brother, a former business partner, sued him.
He says that he only owes $160,000 on his home that is worth $350,000 and he didn't think it was right for the bank to take it.
When Hoskins found a buyer for his home who offered $170,000 to pay it off, he says that the bank refused it claiming that they could get more for it on their own by putting it into foreclosure.
Hoskins used a bulldozer to flatten the home he built and it's now a pile of debris.
RiverHills Bank has not commented on the situation, but Hoskins believes his message was received and understood.
"Well, to probably make banks think twice before they try to take someone's home, and if they are going to take it wrongly, the end result will be them tearing their house down like I did mine," Hoskins told WLWT .
He knows that there will probably be consequences for his actions (he sought legal counsel prior to bulldozing his home), but Hoskins doesn't regret his decision for a moment.
