Feb. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- Redford, MI-February 22, 2010-- During the launch of Cash for Appliances, Clean and Green Dryer Vent Experts has offered their expertise in how to truly take advantage of new energy efficient clothes dryers.

"Many consumers have been on the fence when deciding whether or not to purchase the more expensive energy efficient appliances, but Cash for Appliances creates the opportunity for those whom have been on that fence to participate in making their home a greener more efficient place." says Tim Reiher, President and C-DET Certified Technician for Clean & Green Dryer Vent Experts.

Energy Star appliances have been known to be more costly from a purchasing standpoint, but the annual savings can offset these additional expenses.

“Many consumers are unaware of the differences between good old trusty and the new machines out in the market today. These energy efficient models are fully loaded with sensors that can prevent them from working the way that our old machines did, but are necessary to prevent the shrinkage and over drying we have all experienced with older machines . Many people complain about how the energy efficient machines take longer to complete a cycle. The truth is that the machines are designed to keep homes running more efficiently and safer as well. Below are some tips on how to maintain these benefits while experiencing little to no change in performance from these new machines"  says Reiher.

Clothes Dryer Energy Efficiency Tips:

•   Check your dryer vent code regulations with your city, state and manufacturer.
•   Replace plastic and foil vent systems with semi-rigid or solid metal venting.
•   Replace exterior vent cover with a louvered cover to prevent animal and debris obstructions.
•   Do not put clothes with flammable materials such as oils, cleaning products, or gasoline into the dryer. If the clothes smell like chemicals after a wash, wash them again until the smell is gone or discard them.
•   Clean screen lint trays before and after drying a load.
•   Wash lint screens with soap and water every few months to remove residue left behind by fabric softeners.
•   Remove and clean excess lint from around your dryer.
•   Don’t leave the house or go to bed with the dryer running.
•   Have dryer vents professionally cleaned and inspected annually.

Clean & Green Dryer Vent Experts work diligently to prevent dryer fires, keep dryers functioning properly and provide energy savings through dryer vent cleaning, repair, installation and modification.

" Aside from the energy savings that comes along with proper dryer maintenance, consumers must also be aware of the dangers that coincide with improper maintenance." says Ronald Reiher, Owner of Clean & Green Dryer Vent Experts, LLC.

Warning Signs:
•                    Clothes are taking more than one cycle to dry, especially jeans and towels.
•   Lint no longer appears on lint screen.
•   Dryer repeatedly stops during a cycle.
•   Clothes have moldy smell after dry cycle.
•   Check for loose lint behind your dryer.
•   If you can't hear or feel air moving from the vent's  exterior you may have a clogged vent.

“Following these tips and looking out for the warnings signs can prevent serious risks to your safety and help you to maintain an efficient laundry room. Make sure the professional performing the work is certified by the CSIA (Chimney Safety Institute of America)." says Reiher.
