Picked Accsys eLearning candidates, pays off for major retailer

Major retailer Pick n Pay has acknowledged the credibility and value of the National Diploma in Payroll Administration Services offered by Accsys, a national supplier of payroll, HR, Time & Attendance and Access Control solutions.

Feb. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- Management at the retail giant has enrolled three candidates on the Accsys Diploma in Payroll Administration, offered through an eLearning platform and looks forward to a significant return on the company’s investment.
Morag Magnussen, Divisional Director at Pick n Pay Retailers Pty Ltd., says payroll administration of which tax management is an obviously critical component  is heavily dependent on skilled, qualified administration staff.

Pick n Pay invests heavily in  employee training which is pivotal to the employee’s overall sense of pride, self-esteem and is a great confidence builder. She describes the Accsys course as ‘infectious’ and says that other company Payroll Administrators are keen to enroll having seen the benefits that the course brings.

Magnussen believes the Accsys eLearning course effectively combines education  in both use of  technology in  payroll and payroll administration skills, and has been instrumental in transferring the value of skills into the workplace. The course adds dimension and quality to the company’s on-the-job training and general knowledge of issues affecting payroll in the industry she says.

“Developments in legislation, fundamental changes within the profession, the role of technology and the critical importance of effective data management has emphasised the relevance and importance of qualifications within the industry,” says Magnussen. “Now is the time to concentrate on training as a means to achieve this qualification.”

Magnussen attributes this urgency for qualification to significant transformation within SARS and the industry.

Access to, and storage of data, as well as compliance with corporate governance processes and procedures, means that administrators must consider and appreciate the influence of payroll information on business aspects such as equity and auditing,” says Magnussen.

“Essentially, skills are sought after and this is why training and education within payroll and tax has come to the fore. For our purposes, the eLearning platform has shown to be one of the foremost practical and efficient channels of knowledge transfer and benefit to business,” she continues.
