Feb. 21, 2010 - PRLog -- Iraq law enforcement veteran and local attorney Adam Muery filed for candidacy for place 3 for The Woodlands Township Board election to be held on May 8th.

"The Woodlands is a wonderful community where we are proud to raise our family. Unfortunately, crime is a growing concern that needs to be addressed now before it gets out of hand. In 2009 home burglaries rose by over 45%, felony drug arrests doubled and business robberies tripled. We also saw disturbing events with bank robberies, car-jackings, and violent assaults on women. The board needs someone with my experience to focus on these threats and help safeguard our community. Together we can make a difference. I need your support and ask for your vote on May 8th."

Adam Muery has served as a state and local police officer, a felony prosecutor, and as Counsel for the Office of Special Investigations as the Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Investigations Division. He directed investigations and developed statewide strategic enforcement plans to target sexual predators, public corruption, domestic terrorist networks and drug cartels. As Attorney General Abbott’s Law Enforcement Liaison, he was the agency’s primary point of contact for over 70,000 peace officers in Texas. Adam Muery also served with the United States Department of Justice in Iraq in 2007 and 2008. He served as the lead National Police Advisor, Deputy Director of Training, Acting Director of Training, and Inspector General for the Ministry of Interior. He supervised over 150 United States police officers serving in developing the capabilities of over 400,000 Iraqi Police Officers. He led an international Inspector General team that evaluated the performance of provincial and national police forces and assisted with internal affairs investigations rooting out corruption. Adam is also a former United States Marine Infantry Machine Gunner and served as a Captain in the Texas State Guard. He was Officer in Charge of the Border Security Operations Center during operations Wrangler 1 & 2.

As an attorney in private practice, Adam Muery has represented numerous small businesses along with managing his own. He is a strict fiscal conservative that believes the government’s role should be limited at the federal, state, and local levels. “My experience working inside the halls of government has shown me, time and again, the dangers of bureaucrats with ‘good ideas’ on how to spend other people’s money. The government, at all levels, exists to keep citizens safe. Beyond that, most other functions are served better by the private sector, churches, and service organizations.” Adam Muery has previously served as a county vice-chairman and secretary for the Republican Party.

Adam Muery is a Christian who has served as a deacon and lay minister. His wife, Merissa, lived in Africa for several years where her parents served as missionaries. Adam is a member of the Woodlands Rotary Club. Their three children attend school in The Woodlands and are active at the YMCA.

Adam Muery graduated from Texas A&M University and studied at the George Bush School of Public Service and Leadership with a focus in public administration. He earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law – ranked in the top 7% nationally by U.S. News. In private practice, Adam Muery has represented companies in multi-million dollar international transactions and in complex litigation as well as individuals in their legal matters.
