Cognitive Engineering, LLC has achieved specific face recognition through the analysis of three dimensional brain activation patterns revealed by functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Individual faces can also be differentiated by biometric pattern recognition from camera images. New conceptual work by Cognitive Engineering. LLC has identified a correlation between face recognition data obtained between these two methods. Techniques outlined in the patent facilitate face recognition and the understanding of how humans think, recognize and store information on faces and objects.
Cognitive Engineering's pioneering work has resulted in six publications in peer-reviewed medical journals, and one patent. Several research groups have since independently validated our concept of unique brain activation patterns for specific stimuli, including University of California at Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon University, and the NIH.
