Faced with an obsolete set of draperies, Wendy Grim turned to her neighbor, Louise Silk for help. She knew that Louise made quilts, but she wasn’t sure about her idea to do something with the material. Besides, investing so much time and money into the draperies for her old apartment, she love the fabrics. However the problem was complicated. Not only didn’t the drapes fit into the shape of her new windows, the fabric didn’t match her new décor.
“It was a nice challenge for me. I saw prints that were part of the new color scheme that could be repeated with the contrasting out-of-sync fabric to make it work. Wendy had lots of circle elements repeating in her wall art, her rugs and even her lampshades. I used a traditional the drunkard’s path pattern that also has a circle element as another way to coordinate everything. There was so much material that we were able to make a rug, pillows, a tote bag and even a unique one-of-a-kind ‘snuggie’.”
“I am getting so much joy from all of the pieces that Louise made for me. I have never seen sewing of Louise’s quality. She does exquisite work. She took my ideas and perfectly and beautifully made them a reality. I look forward to collaborating with her again.”
