Campers with Chief Guest Lion Nimal Aluthge
Kitulgala / Sri Lanka , Annual Leo District Camp 2010 organized by Leo District 306 A2 has been a great success. Themed “Challenge the Impossible” this camp was held at Ceylon Adventure Kithulgala from 13th to 15th February 2010. 95 members of the Leo district 306 A2 took part in this camp. They belonged to different Leo clubs of District 306 A2.
This camp featured a number of team building and outward bound adventure activities including jungle trekking, hiking and white water rafting.” The main objective of this camp is to develop the leadership skills of the leos and recognizing the future leaders.” stated Kaneel Maddumage , chairman of the Youth Camp 2010. This camp was facilitated by Ceylon Adventure Kithulgala. Leos belonging to different Leo clubs, age groups and locations attended as teams. The teams followed the strict camp program and attended all camp programs. Camp was colored by a vivid camp fire where all the Leos had the opportunity of showcasing their talents through the stage drama and songs.
“This camp is a wonderful experience where we developed our team building skills while getting to know many Leos from other Leo clubs , stated Leo Gaya Attygalle one of the participants of the Leo Camp. “Most of the activities were challenging – yet we went through them through our team effort” , she further stated.
This adventurous and fun filled camp was concluded by a colorful closing ceremony attended by District Governor District 306 A2 Lion Nimal Aluthge and Lady Lion Sriyani Aluthge. Chief Guest Lion Aluthge appreciated the initiative of the youth to develop leadership and teamwork skills. “I am proud of Leos of 306 A2 and we are lucky to have a group of youth besides our movement” stated Lion Aluthge. Leo Lochana Mahawatta from Leo club of Horana Metro received the Best Female Camper while Leo Charles Liyanage was named the Best Camper and received special awards from Chief Guest. Group “Spirits” was named the best group.
Leo District 306A2 is one of the leading leo districts of Sri Lanka. It's sponsored by Lions district 306A2 and presently 21 Leo clubs are actively serving the community while developing their leadership skills. Major objective of the Leo district is to provide a administrative framework for the Leo district to continue their service and self development activities. Leo Dumindu Jayakody is the leader of Leo district 306A2 for the fiscal year 2009/2010. Under the slogan "Excellence Through Humanity and Leadership" leo district 306A2 plans to achive a lot within this leoistic year.
