The Austin plane crash: The real cause

Recently a man identified as Joseph A. Stack, 53 crashed a plane into an Austin Texas office building that housed the IRS. Apparently before the crash he posted a statement on the internet. He said among other things, “I have had all I can stand,” he wrote, adding: “I choose not to keep looking over my shoulder at `big brother' while he strips my carcass.”

The real causes of these types of acts are frustration, hopelessness and dissatisfaction with life in general. “In these hard times we need ways to alleviate stress, anxiety and depression,” says author M. Abdul-Malik. As a sufferer of social anxiety and a former drug addict Abdul-Malik knows these feelings too well. “It wasn’t until I started practicing mindfulness meditation and acceptance, that I got a handle on my life.

Its about having the serenity to accept the things we can not change, the courage to change the things we can and more importantly the WISDOM to know the difference. Society teaches us if we work hard and do the right thing everything will turn out great. But often life doesn’t work out that way.”

Abdul-Malik is the author of “Balanced Nature: Curing diabetes, anxiety and living longer”.
