Feb. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- Manvel, TX—Namadwaar, a prayer house dedicated to the Divine Names, the first of its kind in the United States, will be established in the Houston metropolitan area by Global Organization for Divinity. Mayor Delores Martin of Manvel, TX and Mayor Tom Reid of Pearland, TX will jointly inaugurate the prayer house on February 28, 2010 at 1:30 PM. The prayer house will be located at 3642 Bailey Ave, Manvel, TX, at the border of the cities of Manvel and Pearland.

Namadwaar is a worldwide initiative of Global Organization for Divinity to strive towards universal peace and harmony by manifesting the divinity within each individual through the simple path of chanting the Divine Names. This Namadwaar in the United States will be the first such prayer house outside India. There are currently 10 such Namadwaars in India, and several others are in the process of being established in various countries around the world.

A Sanskrit term, Namadwaar literally means “the Portal of the Divine Name”. It shows a path to the Supreme Truth through chanting the Divine Names, specifically the Maha mantra (the “great invocation”) which is Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare, Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare. The Maha mantra will be incessantly chanted in the Nama Dwaar.

The Namadwaar will be open to all, transcending the boundaries of denominations, personal philosophies, creed or nationality. Written prayer requests will be collected in a request box placed in the Namadwaar. Routine and group prayer sessions will be conducted to pray for alleviation of misery and suffering for anyone who requests it.

Other activities that will be conducted in the US Namadwaar include weekly prayer sessions, children’s enrichment programs and Hindu scriptural classes and study groups. The Namadwaar will also offer prayer visits at residences and hospitals as a free service, on invitation.

The Namadwaar initiative was started under the guidance of His Holiness Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji of Chennai, India for the propagation of Divine Name chanting as a way to provide material as well as spiritual upliftment to humanity at large, leading to peace and universal brotherhood.

Enlightened masters around the world speak of several benefits of chanting the Divine Names. It quiets the mind, flooding it with peace and happiness. It helps increase attention and strengthens the mind. It is a remedy for personal ills and sorrows—prayers performed with the Names of the compassionate God are extraordinarily powerful and certainly yield positive results, as experienced by thousands across the world. Finally, chanting the Names of God can be used as an aid for any spiritual path and is an easy way to obtain His Grace to transform our lives and our worlds.

While mental repetition of the Divine Names leads to the good of the individual, chanting the Divine Names out loud purifies the singer, the listener and the very place where the chanting is done. Constant chanting of the Names in the same location verily manifests divinity in that place, and spreads positive vibrations of love, harmony and understanding not just within its precincts but everywhere around it. This is the prime reason for the establishment of Namadwaars the world over.
