The development of the certification was led by CSA Standards with the assistance of stakeholders and industry experts experienced in the development and verification of GHG inventories. The new CSA Standards certification program aims to standardize GHG quantification and recognize professionals who develop, quantify and report greenhouse gas emissions for both the regulatory and voluntary markets. The program has been developed and will be operated and maintained by CSA Standards under the structure of the international standard ISO 17024 General requirements for bodies operating certification schemes for persons.

HRCarbon assisted in the development of CSA Standards’ Greenhouse Gas Inventory Quantifier Certification Program by participating in the pilot examination which provided vital statistical information which validated the fairness and validity of the certification exam. A number of HRCarbon Staff members successfully completed the examination and became one of the industry's first graduates of the rigorous Greenhouse Gas Quantifier Certification program
