Help Art Heal Haiti event

When news of the earthquake in Haiti reached Gregory Grene, he immediately thought of his brother who worked for the UN there.

Feb. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- Andrew Grene worked as special assistant to the head of the UN stabilisation mission in Haiti, Hédi Annabi, and along with 84 others, he lost his life in the UN building when the earthquake hit.

This tragedy was not going to go un-marked by the family and Gregory and Andrew’s close friend Tim Perutz, immediately set up a Foundation in Andrew’s name.  The Andrew Grene Foundation has been set up in memory of Andrew to raise funds for the education of children in Haiti and to aid micro financing small scale business to assist Haitian self-sufficiency.

Various events are being held to raise funds for the Foundation in Europe and America.  Niece of Tim Perutz, Tessa Perutz, is holding a silent art auction on 19th February in Evanston, Illinois to raise funds for the Foundation and Unicef.

Tessa is 21 years old and is currently finishing her BFA at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. Tessa has lived most of her life in Chicago but likes to travel as often as possible, to search for new artistic insight. She is a practicing artist and a curator and her last curated show before Help Art Heal Haiti was a collection of Exquisite Corpse drawings entitled "Cadaver Corpse." That show was exhibited in Chicago at Golden Age and in Philadelphia at Space 1026.

Tessa has all sorts of interests: public art, cassette tapes, lithography, oil paint, vegetarian food, fine films, fine wine, her family, friends, interacting in new environments and philanthropy.  She is very much looking forward to Friday’s event and being able to support the Foundation that is so very close to the family’s heart.

There will be a cash bar, great food and art from over 50 artists from all over the world up for auction.  All proceeds of the art auction will go to Unicef and all of the cash bar proceeds will be donated to the Foundation.
