Barber:  Sonata for Cello and Piano, Op. 6
Schumann:  Sonata for Cello and Piano
(Arranged from the Sonata No. 3 for Violin and Piano in A minor by Steven Isserlis)
Dohnanyi:  Sonata for Cello and Piano in B-flat major, Op. 8
Chopin:  Sonata for Cello and Piano in G minor, Op. 65

UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS CONCERT:
•  Rare opportunity to hear two European-based artists in recital in the Detroit area; this performances marks the debut of both artists on the Chamber Music Society of Detroit series
•  Program consists of sonatas by four composers whose important anniversaries fall in 2010: Samuel Barber (100th birth anniversary), Dohnanyi (50th anniversary death anniversary), Schumann and Chopin (200th birth anniversaries of both composers)
•  Steven Isserlis arranged Schumann’s Sonata for Cello and Piano; it was originally written for Violin and Piano.
•  Pre-Concert Dinner: Bacco Ristorante, with special reduced dinner price for CMSD ticket-holders, 5:00 – 6:15 PM
•  Pre-Concert Talk: Steven Rings, Associate Professor of Music, University of Chicago, 6:45 – 7:30 PM
