Swanson Chiropractic Partners with Texas Stars Hockey

During their inaugural season in the AHL, the Texas Stars Hockey Club is partnering with Swanson Chiropractic & Acupuncture Clinic to help keep their elite athletes at the top of their game.  Swanson Chiropractic & Acupuncture, with locations in Austin, Bee Cave, and Cedar Park is excited about the opportunity and challenge offered by this new affiliation.  

Utilizing current techniques and procedures combined with years of experience, the chiropractors at Swanson Chiropractic are a natural complement to the treatment staff for the Stars.  An attending Doctor of Chiropractic from the Swanson Clinic is present at each of the Stars' home games to ensure any injury is evaluated and treated to ensure a full recovery.

In any sport, the athlete's body must be able to function at its maximum potential in order to be successful.  A research project published in the September 2005 issue of the peer reviewed scientific journal, The Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, JMPT, showed that "Spinal Dysfunction" (more commonly known as subluxation in chiropractic) is related to slower and/or less accurate reaction times and therefore to cognitive function.  The results of the study show that there was a connection between the number of areas of spinal dysfunction and certain types of reaction times.In fact, they found that the more areas of spinal dysfunction, the more it affected reaction times.  This is important for all athletes, especially in sports requiring quick decisions and quick movement.  In this capacity, Swanson Chiropractic is helping the Stars keep their minds and bodies sharp, leading to a successful first season in Central Texas!
